Fertility Awareness Project Values

It’s important to me to share my values with you, these values are a work in progress, and are subject to change as I learn and receive feedback!

Fertility Awareness Project believes that we cannot separate discussions around fertility awareness, contraception and reproductive health from equity and social justice.

For example, marginalized individuals are disproportionately impacted by reproductive health issues, and face discrimination within the healthcare system around conversations of fertility and contraception. As a fertility awareness educator, it is important that this acknowledgement is at the forefront of all that I do.

I am committed to learning about and working towards being an anti-racist and the ways in which I contribute to white supremacy. While I will never “get” to being anti-racist, I commit to creating more inclusivity in my own courses as well as supporting the work of BI&PoC in the fertility and reproductive health space. Along with continued education, this includes contributing yearly to Indigenous-led organizations in my area and increasing my contribution amount each year, prioritizing hiring contractors who identify as BI&PoC and opening one scholarship space each Cycle Love session for someone who identifies as BI&PoC.

Fertility Awareness Project courses are a safe and inclusive space, and all identities are celebrated.

My courses are rooted in an understanding of reproductive physiology which are geared towards those who cycle. I use a combination of women-centric and inclusive language in my course material (ie women and menstruators). Because the physiological information I teach is designed for those with uteruses who menstruate, my courses are designed for cis women, genderfluid and nonbinary folk. However I acknowledge that not all who menstruate are women and not all women menstruate!

For anyone who doesn’t fall within these gender identities, there are incredible FAM instructors who specialize in working with trans and intersex folk, for example.

Fertility Awareness Project is committed to honesty, transparency and human-ness.

In an age where every element of our online lives can be curated to perfection, I’m committed to showing up as honestly as I can on social media and in all the ways I communicate with my community. I am a human being, before I am a business owner, and I value showing up honestly.

This value translates to my communication as well as my marketing practices, which strive to be ethical and transparent.
